Food

As the pregnancy rolls along, I am finding my love of cooking diminishing, along with my energy supply. I never really thought about the energy it takes to pull a proper meal together until I am finding myself without it. This lack of energy in the late afternoons is a humbling experience to say the least. Since I have started to cook, I have prided myself in staying away from the frozen, tasteless cardboard like frozen meals. I have found silly pride in laboring over an entree that would make the Queen Martha Stewart herself, proud. But, alas, I have succumbed to the world of convienience food, in baby steps, mind you. I have found that, Gardenburger , makes an excellent veggie burger!!! With a nice freshy baked bun from the bakery, some fresh and crunchy accoutrements and a few oven roasted potato wedges, in 15 minutes, I can have a meal that I am proud to serve and eat. Shhhh!!!!! Just don't tell Martha...

Mr. Kitty - The Finale

Mr. Kitty's bloodwork cam back negative for diabetes but positive for - BRAT. It turns out, that his unusual urinations was purely behavioral and he was basically having a fit, in the only way that he knows how. So, we upset him in some way that he decided to lash out at me. I am so relieved that he is healthy...I will take my bad, fat kitty over a sickly one any day.

Bring on the Spring

Now that Christmas and all the fun "cool weather" holidays are over, I am anticipating the arrival of Spring. Well, here is AZ, the weather from November to March is actually Spring - like, but I really ready for the clothes the season brings with it. I realize I won't be able to fit into my favorite Lilly shifts when the season starts, as I will either still be with child or recovering from the birth so, I am in search for some cheerful "transitional" pieces. I will be so over maternity clothes and spandex, yet not ready to squish my loose and ragged body into anything too fitted either. These pieces are all bright enough to camoflauge any vomit from baby or dirty hands of DS, and cheerful enought o lift my spirits. The cuts are also very forgiving I think I may have found a few good options - thank God for Lilly Pulitzer!!!

Mr. Kitty - Part 2

Mr. Kitty went to the vet yesterday, his sugar was tested and they think he could possibly be a diabetic. We will find out for sure today if this is conclusive, when his blood work results are in. And, yes, I will have to give him shot of insulin. I don't even know how I will feel about this. We LOVE this cat. He is 7 years old and his breed commonly lives to be in there early 20's. But, insulin shots, for my cat??? Of course we will do it if this is in fact the diagnosis - the things we do for love...

What child is this?

As this second and final pregnancy is coming to end, I am in need of some baby names. Being the traditionalist that we are, we are waiting for the birth to know the sex. This is so double sided as, at birth it is even more exhilarating with everything being a surprise yet, it makes the 10 months of gestation very confusing and even longer. I have no idea how to decorate the nursery, what clothes to buy, and the most important part --the NAME. What to name the child? We have a good idea for a girl's name, but have few options for a boy. I am not one for the popular names, but prefer a more classsic, strong name. We really tend to lean more towards names that could be a last name. And of course the more preppy, old school name, the better. Our last name begins with the letter"B" so, anything beginning with that name won't do. Any suggestions???

Mr. Kitty

Mr. Kitty is a valuable member of our small, but growing family. He is the first one to greet me in the morning and walk me down the stairs and the last one I see at night, sharing my pillow. As he is such a joyful companion to me, yesterday, his tune changed dramatically. After waking, I went to get DS (dear son) from his bedroom, to take him downstairs and begin our day. Mr. Kitty walked with me into DS's room, happily chirped to him and hopped onto his bed. He then proceeded to lift his tail and relieve himself (urine) all over DS's bed!!!! We were horrified and disgusted. So, I wearily stipped DS's bed, and put it into the wash, hobbling down the stairs with an armload of bed clothes stinching of cat piss. But wait, it gets better....After putting the linens into the washer and scalding my hands clean, I poured myself and DS bowls of Cheerios. As I walked out of the laundry room, hungry to have my meager breakfast,there sat Mr. Kitty, squatting over my bowl of ceral and, YES, he was relieving himself again!!!! Obviously, Mr. Kitty is trying to tell us that something is not right with him urologically, so he will be going to the vet this afternoon. Now, you can say that you actually know someone that has had there "Cheerios pissed in". What a wonderful way to start a day.

Back at it again

Ok, one of my personal resolutions this year is to pick up and maintian an actual hobby. Anyone who knows me, know that I am not the crafty type and I am the best at only cooking. SO, I will try to maintain this blog as another hobby. We'll see how it goes.
